As therapists, educators, and caregivers, we often see children who are ready to learn about sensory self-regulation but aren’t quite ready to dive into the more complex frameworks intended for older students. Just Right! Jr. was created to meet those learners where they are: preschoolers, kindergarteners, or children with developmental delays - those who benefit from simpler, sensory-rich experiences that build foundational skills.
I recently released a video (linked below) detailing the core components, structure, and practical uses of Just Right! Jr. Let me walk you through what makes this curriculum powerful, and how you can implement it with ease.

What Just Right! Jr. Offers
Here are the essential elements of the curriculum, and how each piece supports sensory learning, self-advocacy, and skill development:
Why Just Right! Jr. Makes a Difference
Scaffolding & Repetition: Learners revisit core ideas (speed, senses, tools) in multiple ways, which strengthens understanding and retention.
Accessible for Diverse Learners: Whether a child is 3 or 7, whether they have typical development or are in self-contained settings, this curriculum offers multiple entry points. Not all students will use every printable or craft; flexibility is built in.
Ease of Use for Busy Professionals: The planning work is done. Slides are hyperlinked for quick navigation, resources are ready-to-print or digital, and preparation instructions are specific so you can jump straight in.
Supports Collaboration: Ideal for multidisciplinary teams — OTs, PTs, speech, mental health — because the lessons address sensory, motor, communication, and emotional regulation all together.
How to Use Just Right! Jr. in Your Setting
Here are some suggestions based on what has worked well so far:
Pace by readiness — Some classes spend a week on one lesson; others might go faster. Follow students’ engagement and comprehension.
Daily touchpoints — Use the song every day; use books associated with the lesson; include the fine motor or craft activities throughout the week.
Interactive & visual learning — Use the Google Slides activities, drag-and-drop, movement embedded in lessons. If printing is limited, use the digital versions.
Include caregivers — Use the carryover blurbs to tell parents/caregivers what you worked on and how they can support it at home.
Adapt as needed — Use simplified or modified versions of craft, tools, or movement if fine motor skills or attention span are limited.
Final Thoughts
Just Right! Jr. isn’t just a curriculum - it’s a bridge. It helps children move from needing basic sensory experiences toward more complex self-regulation and self-advocacy. It honors where they are, gives them tools, and supports multiple professionals in using consistent language and strategies.
I’m so excited by the responses already: classrooms using it, kids singing the songs, teachers seeing growth in regulation and participation. If you serve young learners, or any students who benefit from sensory support, I think you’ll find Just Right! Jr. to be a solid foundation.
